The effort to develop indicators relevant to indigenous peoples is a continuing process, and it is hoped that this book will encourage more people to contribute to this work. This is not simply a response to the seemingly voracious appetite for information of natural and international statistics institutions. It is an effort to show the reality of indigenous peoples' situations by using facts and figures, in a way that exposes discrimination, inequality and denial of human rights. It is a way of putting indigenous peoples' issues and concerns in the agenda.
