Indigenous Peoples Matter in Loss and Damage

Ms. Victoria Tauli-Corpuz, Executive Director of Tebtebba, and former United Nations Special Rapporteur on The Rights of Indigenous Peoples, highlighted that Loss and Damage is a major worry in the Philippines since it impacts Indigenous Peoples. Natural calamities, such as typhoons and floods, are frequently to blame for Indigenous Peoples' loss and suffering. This video demonstrates calamities' consequences on Indigenous Peoples, their land, resources and territories, and how they dealt with them. The worst effects of these regrettable outbursts include loss of life, property, and livelihoods. In order to safeguard the most vulnerable people, it is crucial to address the issue. While states and other actors must also support Indigenous Peoples by providing the technology, finances, infrastructure, and social services that they sorely need, Indigenous Peoples' knowledge and practices will be a crucial part of dealing with loss and damage.
